Wow! Packing for vacation with a three- year-old and a ten-month-old is quite a task! We’ve packed for an overnight stay before, but we’ve never packed for a week in another state. That is, until now.
Prior to having children, Josh and I would plan a trip, pack a bag, and go. Now, we plan a trip, pack the house, load the car, second guess what we’ve packed, add a few more things, cram the bags in a little further so the door will shut, and then go.
So, how long will it actually take us to make the trip? That remains to be seen. Our GPS says it will take us six hours; our two kids say otherwise. With the frequent potty-breaks of a three-year-old, and the nap schedule and eating routine of a ten-month-old, we are anxious to find out how long it will really take. We’re taking bets on how many times we will have to pull over for a potty-break.
We haven’t invested in (or even borrowed) a DVD player for the car. We may be regretting that decision. Who knows? We may end up with one on the return trip! One can only listen to “Boom, Boom, Ain’t it Great to be Crazy” so many times before realizing that we are all going crazy, and it truly ain’t that great!
Will the trip be worth it?! I know it will be. We get to see family that we haven’t seen in two years.
Do you have any tips to share for traveling with small children to help keep the sanity?
