Toddler Words

I’m endlessly entertained by the joyful nonsense jibber-jabber of my toddler. It makes my heart so happy.

I think it’s interesting, too, the words they start to pick up (or don’t), and what other toddlers his age pick up in comparison.

Aside from the basic Mama, Dada, Bye Bye, Night Night kind of stuff, here are some of my 21-month-old’s favorite words:

Bubbles
Abinky (his pacifier)
Ball
Apple
Elmo
Uh-Oh!
Oh no!
Aw Man!
Oushide (Outside)
Kitty Cat
Doggie
Nose (pointing to your nose)
Eyes (pointing to your eyes)
Ears (pointing to your ears)
Hat (pointing to your head)
Moo (What does a cow say?)
Meow (What does a cat say?)
Woof Woof (What does a dog say?)
Rawr! (What does a bear say?)
Jake
Mana (banana)
Muk (Milk)
Saya (Sandy, our dog)
Go away!
“We are…we are…” (singing the theme from Ice Age 4)
“Move it, move it” (singing the theme from Madagascar)
“Mana an muk, mana an muk” (banana and milk song we made up)

He also loves to make sound effects. Note the random explosion sound he makes in the middle of this jibber-jabber monologue:

What’s your toddler saying? Anything that surprises you?
